Nevada Senator Harry Reid announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded the Moapa Band of Paiutes a $365,000 grant to provide vocational rehabilitation services that will help Paiutes with disabilities obtain jobs.

"While the economy has improved in recent years, many Paiutes are still struggling to find work. Those with disabilities have had an even tougher time. And that is why I am so passionate about this," Reid said. "This funding will have a significant impact on Paiute families. It will provide the tools and training that are essential to building careers and bettering lives. Everyone deserves a fair shot at getting ahead, and I will continue to work hard to ensure opportunities are available to all Nevadans."

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Vocational Rehabilitation Services Projects for American Indians with Disabilities program, the grant will provide those with disabilities who live on or near the Moapa Paiute Indian Reservation with resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities and informed choice to prepare for and engage in gainful employment, including self-employment, telecommuting or business ownership.
